About Us

Extraordinary Tastes & Unexpected Flavours

Who we are

The Condiment Cupboard is based in Elsenham, England and is founded and owned by Mel Casey. As well as the online shop, Mel sells at markets and special events, where she is assisted by her employee, Sally, and occasionally by her husband and daughter. Our regular market is Tuesday and Saturday at Saffron Walden, plus weekly markets at Ongar and Elsenham. Please see our Markets & Events page for our full schedule, and follow us on social media for updates and news. We also stock a small range at Elsenham Post Office, and click and collect is available there.

What we do

Mel makes four of our vinegars: Mango Pulp Vinegar, Blood Orange Balsamic Vinegar, Fig & Date Balsamic Vinegar and Date & Bacon Balsamic Vinegar. She bottles the other vinegars and oils, which are sourced from UK/Italy, Germany, Spain, and Yorkshire, England. This means that if you return your empty bottles, we can reuse them! See our Sustainability page for more information.

Mel sources the highest quality products from suppliers around the UK, many of whom we know personally from food festivals and events. We have curated a collection of interesting, delicious and award-winning products. A Great Taste Award is often our starting point when choosing products and brands to stock. We also look for products with predominantly natural ingredients and non-plastic packaging. The aim is for you to recognise all the ingredients listed. Many of our products are vegan or gluten free.

We are always on top of the latest food trends as well as supplying classic culinary staples.

We offer bespoke or ready made gift hampers for all budgets.

Sally creates and shares recipes using our products. Check out our Recipes page for some culinary inspiration!

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of The Condiment Cupboard. We use biodegradable packaging for our gift hampers, avoid plastic packaging, reuse packaging for internet orders, run a bottle reuse programme and use an electric van. See our Sustainability page for more information.
